The chairman's editorial

G.I.M.R.A. was created in 1987, by the desire of some industrialists from the Auvergne. It gave itself the role of bringing together the pharmaceutical companies of the Auvergne region, with the ambition of becoming the favoured contact for government, political and professional regulatory bodies, in order to maintain and develop this centre of health excellence in the Auvergne.

G.I.M.R.A. is proud to include virtually all of the medicines firms, bringing together both international companies such as MSD, AVENTIS, LIMAGRAIN and ORGANON, and service, sub-contracting, distribution, licence-holder, wholesaler and especially start-up companies.

The Auvergne holds a favoured position in France (4th rank); there is a very active research sector with more than 5000 research scientists divided equally between public and private sectors. The creative spirit ensures dynamism, the development of new companies thereby proving the capacity of our region to innovate, develop, manufacture, market, distribute, export and of course create jobs.

G.I.M.R.A., a centre for meeting and communications, both helps and bears witness to the vitality of the health industries in the Auvergne.
