Mirabel, a Centre of Excellence for Sterile Manufacturing by Merck & Co., Inc. in Europe is situated at Riom, near Clermont-Ferrand, in an estate of 39 hectares, fitting perfectly into the local environment.

Since 1993, our objective has been to build and develop Mirabel, Merck & Co., Inc.'s Sterile Manufacturing Centre in Europe. This development strategy came to fruition in 1995, with the installation of 3 sterile manufacturing units, in the fields of ophthalmology and antibiotics, representing an investment of 280 million euros, that enables us to export throughout the world.

The factory's role within the Merck & Co. group is to manufacture and deliver pharmaceutical products to wholesalers, hospitals and pharmacies, while complying with the requirements of our clients and our Enterprise.

The professionalism of our team of more than 800 staff, associated with technological innovation, makes Mirabel a byword in the field of Sterile Pharmaceutical Manufacturing.

On the site, the respect given to staff, the priority given to safety, to working conditions and the quality of our products, are the principles that govern our everyday operations.

All the stages of the medicines manufacturing cycle including: sterile manufacture, packaging, physico-chemical and microbiological controls and distribution to France and internationally, are conducted at Mirabel.
